What is a Design Objection?
A Design Objection is raised by the Design Examiner at the Indian Patent Office when a design registration application does not fully satisfy the requirements under the Designs Act, 2000. The examiner issues an Examination Report citing specific objections, and the applicant must respond within 6 months of receiving the notice.
A design objection is not a refusal — it is an opportunity to clarify, amend, or support the application with additional documentation. Failure to respond within the stipulated time results in the application being treated as abandoned.
