Trademark Registration is the official process of legally securing a unique mark — brand name, logo, tagline, shape, sound, or colour — under India's Intellectual Property Office (IPO). A registered trademark grants exclusive rights to use that mark in commerce and prevents competitors from using identical or similar marks. Registered marks display the ® symbol; unregistered marks use ™.
In India, trademarks are governed by the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and are valid for 10 years from the date of application, renewable indefinitely. A registered trademark is an intangible business asset that adds significant value — it can be licensed, franchised, or sold.
