Protect the unique visual appearance of your product with Design Registration under the Designs Act, 2000. Secure exclusive rights for 10+5 years against copying and imitation.
Design Registration protects the unique visual characteristics of a product — its shape, pattern, configuration, ornamentation, or the combination of lines and colours applied to any article. It is governed by the Designs Act, 2000 and Design Rules, 2001 (amended 2008 and 2014).
A registered design prevents others from making, selling, or importing articles that incorporate a design that is fraudulently or obviously imitated from the registered design. Design registration protects the aesthetic/visual appeal of a product — not its functionality (which is covered by patents).
