About This Service

What is Udyam Registration?

Udyam Registration is the official government process recognizing businesses as Micro, Small, or Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Launched on July 1, 2020 by India's Ministry of MSME, it replaced the older Udyog Aadhaar system with a fully integrated, paperless platform linked to Aadhaar, PAN, and GST databases.

The process is completely free on the government portal and results in a permanent Udyam Registration Number with no expiry. It is recognized across all Indian states and unlocks a wide range of government schemes, credit benefits, and legal protections exclusively available to MSMEs.

MSME Classification — Investment & Turnover Limits

Enterprise category is determined by both investment in plant/machinery AND annual turnover. Whichever limit is crossed first determines the category:

Micro EnterpriseUp to ₹1 CroreUp to ₹5 Crore
Small EnterpriseUp to ₹10 CroreUp to ₹50 Crore
Medium EnterpriseUp to ₹50 CroreUp to ₹250 Crore

  • If no written agreement exists, payment is required within 15 days

Every registered enterprise receives a unique Udyam Registration Number in the format: UDYAM-XX-0000000

  • UDYAM — Fixed prefix for all registrations
  • XX — Two-letter state code (e.g., MH for Maharashtra, DL for Delhi)
  • 0000000 — Seven-digit unique serial number

Example: UDYAM-MH-01-0012345 (Maharashtra registered enterprise)

Udyam Registration does not require periodic renewal, but the following annual updates are mandatory:
